(CUMMING, GA) – Sawnee Electric Membership Corporation (“Sawnee”) announced today that following a series of decisions by its Board of Directors in May and December, most members will see a similar or a slight decrease in their overall monthly bills for January 2026 when compared to December 2025, from a rate perspective.
The Board has taken proactive steps to lower the Cooperative’s Wholesale Power Cost Adjustment (WPCA) clause from its current level by $4.72 per month for accounts using 1,500 kWh.
Also, earlier this year, Sawnee’s Board of Directors approved minor rate adjustments to several retail rates base charges, resulting in an increased base charge ranging from between $2 to $3 per month. Members were notified of these changes in the summer and will receive another reminder in January when these specific changes take effect.
When these two changes take effect on January 2, 2026, the net result for most of Sawnee’s members will be a reduction of approximately $2 per month for residential and commercial accounts using 1,500 kWh. Members who use less energy will still see a decrease, though to a lesser extent. All impacts are dependent on a member’s actual monthly usage.
Sawnee EMC remains dedicated to keeping its members’ rates affordable. The Board is mindful to make any rate adjustments only when necessary and to always keep the members’ best interests and impacts in mind.
